Pho Garden Challenge
Date of Event: Friday, March 25, 2011
Spent the day with Alex, Jacky, Joanne, and Kevin
I’d like to start off with a huge THANKS to Alex for driving to and from San Francisco (and Jacky too since he took over halfway going back). Driving was very hectic but we made it safely there and back.
The car ride consisted of listening to CDs that happened to be in Jacky’s and Alex’s car. Snack on the ride there was Gardetto’s; gotta love those brown chips.
After paying a steep parking price, we finally made it inside Pho Garden.
Seems like a lot of people finished the whole bowl of pho…despite after seeing the mass size of the bowl, we still went ahead to do the challenge. What a mistake that was.
A few group pictures of the contestants. Everyone but Alex did the challenge. Thanks Alex for taking all of the pictures while we were doing the challenge!
We got giant chopsticks and soup spoons.
The monster size bowls came filled with pho. It was so big that I could bathe in that bowl. It looks like we’re starting regret attempting this challenge already.
Time to start chowing down! It actually tasted really good. I really liked the noodles and flavor.
Then after a good 30 minutes or so, we started giving up one by one. Starting from Joanne, Kevin, then finally me. Everything just became bland and I even got some weird taste in my mouth and it just spoiled my appetite for continuing on. Half-way there and full to our stomachs with still a large amount of Pho left.
Jacky was the last one standing, and he had finished almost all of his noodles by around the half way mar, so he kept continuing to push through.
Supporting Jacky to finish!
“I got Pho’ed Up!”
Going down to the last few minutes.
But it just wasn’t enough time. SO CLOSE JACKY!
This is all that was left of his bowl.
We all failed the challenge, but at least we get t-shirts when we lose right? Wrong. They didn’t have anymore t-shirts so they gave us canteens instead. Like, what the rip off.
Thanks Alex, for taking all of these wonderful pictures while we were slurping away our Pho!
After getting back to EG, we simply went to Jacky’s house for some Mario Party fun!
I won the game with Daisy. Teehee. It was a pretty fun day. Loved hanging out with everyone. Next time though, no food challenges, just pure good tasting food.
