Sister Visits
Thursday, May 5, 2011 - Saturday, May 6, 2011

My sister came over to my dorm at SJSU to pretty much try my dining common food and hang out with me before she graduates. Pretty much experiencing my dorm life similar to the time I stayed over at her dorm during her freshman year at college.

My second time going to Loves Cupcakes. The first time I only tried one cupcake and I found it to be pretty good, but this time…my experience was totally different. I went with my sister and we got four cupcakes.

Free Food

Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s
April 12, 2011

I originally wasn’t going to go, thinking that the lines would just be extremely long and an unreasonable wait before getting a free scoop. But as I was happily eating fish tacos for dinner with Kriz and Sruti, after mentioning the free cone day, Kriz asked if I had already gone. I said no, and she said we should go after eating! I was totally down for that especially since she told me others said the wait was only about 20 minutes, which isn’t that long at all.

So I swooped by my dorm to grab my camera and we were off!

Ben & Jerry’s is found right at the edge of the west side of campus. The line seemed pretty long, but it wasn’t so terrible since it seemed to be moving quite quickly.

Long Lines

After getting inside, I thought about getting Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream, since it sounded like there were a lot of things in it and I wasn’t about to get a normal flavor I could get at any other ice cream place.

After going through the menu though, I saw a flavor called the Coconut Seven Layer Bar. I. Love. Coconut. So I just had to get it. Coconut Ice Cream with Coconut & Fudge Flakes, Walnuts and Swirls of Graham Cracker & Butterscotch.

My Coconut Seven Layer Bar (left) and Kriz’s Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream (right).  We both loved the ice cream. It was mighty delicious. I definitely was loving the coconut flakes in my ice cream. It all was just a wonderful flavor.

Kriz with her ice cream. She finally let me take a picture of her after the many times she refused to be in it. I had a lot of fun getting free ice cream with you Kriz! Thanks!

Crazy Challenge

Pho Garden Challenge
Date of Event: Friday, March 25, 2011
Spent the day with Alex, Jacky, Joanne, and Kevin

I’d like to start off with a huge THANKS to Alex for driving to and from San Francisco (and Jacky too since he took over halfway going back). Driving was very hectic but we made it safely there and back.

The car ride consisted of listening to CDs that happened to be in Jacky’s and Alex’s car. Snack on the ride there was Gardetto’s; gotta love those brown chips.

After paying a steep parking price, we finally made it inside Pho Garden.

Seems like a lot of people finished the whole bowl of pho…despite after seeing the mass size of the bowl, we still went ahead to do the challenge. What a mistake that was.

A few group pictures of the contestants. Everyone but Alex did the challenge. Thanks Alex for taking all of the pictures while we were doing the challenge!

We got giant chopsticks and soup spoons.

The monster size bowls came filled with pho. It was so big that I could bathe in that bowl. It looks like we’re starting regret attempting this challenge already.

Time to start chowing down! It actually tasted really good. I really liked the noodles and flavor.

Then after a good 30 minutes or so, we started giving up one by one. Starting from Joanne, Kevin, then finally me. Everything just became bland and I even got some weird taste in my mouth and it just spoiled my appetite for continuing on. Half-way there and full to our stomachs with still a large amount of Pho left.

Jacky was the last one standing, and he had finished almost all of his noodles by around the half way mar, so he kept continuing to push through.

Supporting Jacky to finish!

"I got Pho’ed Up!"

Going down to the last few minutes.

But it just wasn’t enough time. SO CLOSE JACKY!

This is all that was left of his bowl.

We all failed the challenge, but at least we get t-shirts when we lose right? Wrong. They didn’t have anymore t-shirts so they gave us canteens instead. Like, what the rip off.

Thanks Alex, for taking all of these wonderful pictures while we were slurping away our Pho!

After getting back to EG, we simply went to Jacky’s house for some Mario Party fun!

I won the game with Daisy. Teehee. It was a pretty fun day. Loved hanging out with everyone. Next time though, no food challenges, just pure good tasting food.

You can see the rest of the photos taken that day by clicking here.
